²¹ And the Lord said to Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the ^(A)miracles that I have put in your power. But ^(B)I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go. ²² Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord, ^(C)Israel is my ^(D)firstborn son, ²³ and I say to you, “Let my son go that he may serve me.” If you refuse to let him go, behold, I ^(E)will kill your firstborn son.’”

²⁴ At a lodging place on the way ^(F)the Lord met him and ^(G)sought to put him to death. ²⁵ Then ^(H)Zipporah took a ^(I)flint and cut off her son's foreskin and touched Moses'^[a] feet with it and said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me!” ²⁶ So he let him alone. It was then that she said, “A bridegroom of blood,” because of the circumcision.

²⁷ The Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness ^(J)to meet Moses.” So he went and met him at the ^(K)mountain of God and kissed him. ²⁸ And Moses ^(L)told Aaron all the words of the Lord with which he had sent him to speak, and all ^(M)the signs that he had commanded him to do.

¹⁰ And there has not ^(A)arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, ^(B)whom the Lord knew face to face, ¹¹ none like him for all ^(C)the signs and the wonders that the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, ¹² and for all the mighty power and all the great deeds of terror that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

³⁶ But ^(A)the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For ^(B)the works that the Father has given me ^(C)to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, ^(D)bear witness about me that ^(E)the Father has sent me.

³⁷ Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him, ^38 (A)so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
